Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has issued a statement recognising the 400th anniversary of the British landing in Barbados.

On this day, we honour the pain of our past, the power of our people, and the promise of our future.
Four hundred years ago, the Olive Blossom arrived on our shores, marking the start of one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history.
Today, we stand together, stronger and focused on Reclaiming Our Atlantic Destiny and affirming that our greatest chapters are yet to be written.
