Barbados can generate about 24 million dollars from lamb produced from the Black belly sheep.
Consultant in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Leroy McClean, says they are on a drive to reduce the 14 million-dollar import bill for meat from sheep, with a focus on eliminating it altogether.
This is all part of a local programme to increase the population of Black belly sheep on the island.
