The unlawful sexual intercourse case against the former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Neil Rowe, will now begin on March 25.
45-year-old Rowe has been charged with having unlawful sexual intercourse with a female without her consent, or was reckless as to whether she consented, on September 18, 2022.
He appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday, where he was informed the trial would be adjourned to the alternate date of March 25 because the prosecutor in the matter, Principal State Counsel Olivia Davis, and the Court are both engaged in trials.
Rowe, who was not required to plead to the indictable charges on his previous court appearance, was in 2024 stripped of his postion as Deputy Speaker, with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley saying the move will allow him to deal with a matter he faces before the High Court.
