Rum described as the region's most precious product

Rum is the region’s most precious product.

That’s the view of Assistant Secretary of the CARICOM Single Market and Trade, Wayne McCook.

He was speaking at the recently held Mix and Mingle programme of the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers Association.

He told stakeholders there will be problems, but they have to be smart and be up to the challenge.

The CARICOM official says regionalism is key, but the road ahead is unclear, as they do not know what the US tariffs will be like.
