At a time when the proliferation of social media and technology has been blamed for undermining language skills, a primary school is pushing the importance of literacy and writing.
The St. Luke Brighton School has been encouraging students to write compositions weekly on a range of topics.
Acting Principal Dr. Debbie Bovell explains the best works are selected and later compiled in a book that’s placed in the public library and also sold in bookstores.
Dr. Bovell also reveals the exercise has been helping students in their academics, with improvements seen in Common Entrance grades.
However, to boost the project and take it to another level, she is calling on a publisher to come on board.
