Members of the Upper House today put politics aside, as they congratulated Deputy President Her Honour the Most Honourable Elizabeth Thompson for her national award.
Senator Thompson was conferred the island’s highest award, the Order of Freedom of Barbados, on Independence Day.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight, led off tributes at the start of today’s sitting.
Opposition Senator, Andre Worrell, also offered his congratulations, as he noted Senator Thompson serves as a good example for young women in Barbados.
And an emotional Senator Thompson, admits the recognition was unexpected and the subsequent support, overwhelming.
