Senator Roshanna Trim among the youngest to serve in Upper Chamber

The Senate has a new member.
Today social activist and national youth advocate Roshanna Trim was sworn in as the newest senator.
At 30 years old, she is among the youngest to serve in the Upper Chamber.
The Government Senator took the oath of office before Her Excellency the Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, President of Barbados, at State House.
Senator Trim, who served in the Barbados National Youth Parliament, Barbados Youth Development Council and several community groups, says she is thankful to be called to serve at this national level.
And as Senator Trim prepares for her first sitting in the Upper Chamber, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley told her that she is about to enter a different phase of her life.
Also attending the swearing-in were Deputy Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw, Attorney General Dale Marshall, other Cabinet members, and the new senator’s mother and brother.
Senator Trim is filling the vacancy left by Minister of Educational Transformation Chad Blackman, who resigned from the Senate to successfully contest the St. James North by-election on a Barbados Labour Party ticket.
