Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS), James Paul, wants the removal of the red tape that makes it difficult for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to access international relief funds.
He expressed concern that SIDS face too many challenges when attempting to secure the funds, which are meant to provide both immediate assistance and long-term support.
Mr. Paul made these remarks during the Fifth Board Meeting of the Loss and Damage Fund at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
He emphasised that the managers of the funds must remember their primary purpose: to respond promptly during emergency situations.
