Several school children were made to return home today after they attended school and found no teachers present.
This as a result of the ongoing sick-out action by members of the Barbados Union of Teachers.
Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw said that six schools closed due to the action.
Late last night, BUT’s General Secretary Gilbert Carmichael confirmed the scheduled action for today and tomorrow will proceed as planned, after their demands were not met by Minister of Educational Transformation Senator Chad Blackman.
The BUT is calling for a reinstatement of a term’s leave for teachers.
