The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has issued a Small Craft Advisory for Barbados, as windy conditions are expected across the island and marine area from tonight into tomorrow, Friday, July 11, 2025.
A Small Craft Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots are affecting or are forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.
According to the BMS, an Atlantic high-pressure system is generating winds of 20 to 25 knots across the island.
These winds are expected to briefly increase to 20 to 30 knots tomorrow, with higher gusts likely, particularly during periods of moderate shower activity.
Additionally, sea swells of 1.5 to 2.5 meters are expected in open water during this period. However, a gradual reduction in wind speeds is anticipated starting Friday night.
Moderate open-water swells and strong winds may pose challenges for small vessels.
Marine users are urged to follow the guidance of relevant authorities and stay updated through official sources for further instructions.
This Small Craft Advisory is expected to be terminated at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, or sooner
if conditions warrant.
