There is still no resolution to the impasse between the National Union of Public Workers and the Barbados Community College.
The two sides met today with the Chief Labour Officer to address the dispute.
But CBC News understands the meeting ended with the Chief Labour Officer requesting more time to find a solution. The parties are expected to reconvene early next week.
The issue stems from the BCC’s decision to appoint a temporary worker to a post previously held in an acting capacity for over a year by a long-serving staff member.
The union had asked the Chief Labour Officer to treat the matter as urgent, hoping for a resolution within days.
The dispute has already led to protest action by unionised BCC staff outside the college gates on September 30th, followed by ongoing discussions between the union and management.
