Days after a public service vehicle carrying school children overturned, key stakeholders met at the round table to discuss the issue of student transportation in Barbados.
The meeting was held at the Barbados Transport Authority and in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Works Santia Bradshaw, and Minister of Educational Transformation Chad Blackman.
Also present were Chief Education Officer Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, Chief Operations Officer at the Transport Board Lynda Holder, and representatives of the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT), among other officials.
Chief Education Officer Dr. Archer-Bradshaw says the discussions focused on identifying and implementing practical, student-centred solutions to improve the transportation experience for children across the island.
Meanwhile, the AOPT’s Director of Public Communications and Public Affairs, Mark Haynes, says the Alliance is in full agreement with some of the solutions discussed at the meeting and is looking forward to further discussions.
