The city streets came alive this afternoon as members of the Barbados Fire Service marched to the sound of the drums of the Barbados Pathfinders Band.
Along the route, stretching from the first fire station on Coleridge Street to the last firehouse on Probyn Street, they highlighted some of the island’s biggest fires.
Some of those fires include the Barbados Hardware, Colonnade Mall, Cave Shepherd, Fogarty, and Modern Living blazes.
Divisional Officer Marlon Small tells CBC News this forms part of the service’s ongoing 70th anniversary celebrations.
The troops were inspected at Probyn Street by Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard, before gathering for a church service at the Bethel Methodist Church on Bay Street.
Meanwhile, Assistant Band Leader with the Barbados Pathfinder Band, Yvette Greenidge, says they are happy to lend assistance on such an auspicious occasion.
