Director of Cricket at Cricket West Indies, Miles Bascombe, says it’s too early to judge Daren Sammy’s effectiveness as head coach across all formats based solely on the team’s recent Test series performance.
Sammy’s tenure began with a tough challenge against Australia in July, where the West Indies were swept 3-0.
The low point came in the third Test, when the team was bowled out for just 27 runs in their second innings, the second-lowest total in Test history.
Speaking at a media conference after a two-day emergency meeting to address key issues in West Indies cricket, Bascombe acknowledged the urgency for improvement.
He emphasised that while Sammy currently retains the board’s support, better results will be expected moving forward.
