The TVET Council is ensuring local competitors are competent and certified before they hit the big stage competing in the World Skills International competition.
The Barbados competition, World Skills Barbados, was launched Thursday with 14 competitors.
Executive Director of the TVET Council, Henderson Eastmond, says the island has been competing in World Skills International for several years.
He says the initiative is part of efforts to boost skills development in Barbados.
