There is a market for the hides of sheep.
Consultant with the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Leroy McClean, says that if you visit any local abattoir, the hides are discarded.
He says experts believe that sheep, like the Blackbelly, produce high-quality leather.
However, he notes that this potential cannot be developed unless numbers are increased and production reaches a significant level.
