UPDATE: Collision claims two lives

The rider (driver) of a motorcycle who was involved in a collision which claimed the life of a young woman on Wednesday, has now died.

He is 35-year-old, Jamal Ramsey, of Browne’s Gap, Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church, while pillion rider, 22-year-old Tishana Jamelia Ward, of Husband’s, St. James, died at the scene of the accident.

The Barbados Police Serviced noted in a press release that, “police personnel from the Oistins Police Station are investigating the fatal road traffic collision which occurred around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, along Welches Road, Christ Church approximately one kilometre west of Oistins town in Christ Church.

“Involved were two vehicles, a motorcycle and a motor van owned by The Barbados Police Service.
The motorcycle was driven by a male with a female pillion rider, both vehicles were travelling along the said road in opposite directions prior to the collision. The pillion rider was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene – she was identified by immediate family member as Tishana Jamelia Ward, 22 years of Husband’s, St. James

“The driver (rider) of the motorcycle was taken from the scene via ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for urgent medical treatment he was later pronounced dead sometime after 10 pm on the said day whilst receiving medical treatment – he is Jamal Ramsey, 35 years, of Browne’s Gap, Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church.


“The driver and occupants of the motor van were unhurt.

“Police investigations are continuing.”
