UPDATE: Teen killed in shooting

The Barbados Police Service has identified the teen whose death brings the number of homicides for 2024 to 16.

He is 19-year-old Zakhir Avion Kiman Goodridge, of Upper Crescent, Gall Hill, Christ Church, who died in a shooting incident near his home.

Goodridge was killed and four other men injured, when a “lone gunman walked in the area and started shooting”.

A statement from the Barbados Police Service on the incident follows.

“Police responded to a shooting incident which was reported about 9:27 a.m. on Wednesday 12th June 2024, on the compound of the Aberdeen Jones Centre and Market, at the corner of Crescent Road and Upper Gall Hill Road, Christ Church.

“Brief facts
A number of young men were liming in the area when a lone gunman walked in the area and started shooting, afterwards the assailant ran away through a gap. After the melee one male was left motionless on the ground whilst four others were injured, they (the injured) were all transported to hospital with injuries which were said to be non-life threatening.

“Medical doctor pronounced death of the young man who was identified by a family member as Zakhir Avion Kiman Goodridge, years of Upper Crescent, Gall Hill, Christ Church.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
