Some urban communities and the health care sector are in for major upgrades funded by two loans secured by Government.
One of the loans is earmarked for community improvements, which involve creating housing solutions in Chapman Lane, President Kennedy Drive, Westbury Road and other areas.
The other loan is expected to be used to upgrade the nine polyclinics across the island, and establish two new ones.
The project is expected to last for four years.
This was part of the information conveyed during debate in the Senate on a resolution to approve Government borrowing $117 million Barbados dollars from the Saudi Fund for Development.
Leading off the debate, Minister of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology, Senator Jonathan Reid says the Barbados Labour Party government inherited a country that was in a state of crisis in 2018.
However, Opposition Senator Andre Worrell says the government seems to be borrowing too much money.
