US Vice President Kamala Harris has thanked Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for her partnership. This comes before MS Harris’ last trip abroad next week.
Ms Mottley was among several world leaders Ms Harris held telephone conversations with on Wednesday. The other leaders included the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz and French president, Emmanuel Macron.
Vice President Harris during the conversation emphasised her belief that US economic and strategic interests are intertwined with its neighbors in the Caribbean.
According to a statement from the white house, the two leaders also reviewed the progress in the US-Caribbean partnership and the vice president’s leadership in strengthening the relationships throughout the region.
The US welcomed shared progress on climate adaptation and resilience, food security, and renewable energy investments while reaffirming her interest in continuing to strengthen the bonds between the American people and people throughout the Caribbean.
Harris will hand over the vice presidency to senator JD Vance.
