Athlete and senior advocate Kathy Harper-Hall is turning the spotlight from the competition of the National Senior Games to compassion.
She is rallying support for fellow competitor Janita Austin, who was the victim of a violent attack earlier this year. A walk, set for this weekend, is aimed at raising funds to assist Austin, who is still undergoing medical care. Ms. Hall especially called on those in the sporting fraternity to come out and support the cause.
She says the walk is not just for Austin, but about showing that violence against the elderly must not be tolerated.
Part two of the senior games begins on August 25 with road tennis and concludes on September 28 with archery. In all, 15 sporting disciplines will be contested, with an ‘active Living Expo’ set for Barbados Community College on September 6 and 7.
