Political scientist Peter Wickham says all eyes will be on the by-election expected to be called in the St. James North constituency, given the resignation of Member of Parliament, Edmund Hinkson.
He believes it will be called before Crop Over.
Mr. Wickham says the resignation of MP Hinkson comes as no surprise.
He says the parliamentarian was able to complete a major piece of work in championing the rights of the disabled, which has been widely received.
Mr. Wickham adds that the BLP is rumoured to have tipped Minister of Educational Transformation, Senator Chad Blackman, as Mr. Hinkson’s successor, who is well-positioned given his foothold in that constituency and who has some political experience.
He says the Democratic Labour Party will have a huge challenge in messaging within that constituency.
