Youth advocates with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados are on a mission to help the nation’s young people change their lifestyles to ensure longevity.
It comes as the island joins other countries to mark International Youth Day.
Youth advocates Timon Howard and N’djibury Reece Co tell CBC News they’re using social media as one of the tools to get their messaging across.
And they say another initiative, their cool school nutrition tours, has been a resounding success.
Ms. Reece Co says there’s more work to be done and it has become a personal mission for her to assist people with fostering a healthier lifestyle.
Mr. Howard acknowledges the impact of their work will take some time, and breaking the patterns formed over generations will be difficult.
