Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey, has called for a mechanism that shows the age of voters in political elections.
He was speaking in Golden Square at the launch of the Senior Games, where he stated that there is this concept that young people are not interested in politics, but he believes that is the furthest thing from the truth.
Humphrey believes that if there were a mechanism in place, it would have shown that the younger generation made up a significant percentage of voters in the recently concluded by-election in the St. James North constituency.
Mr. Humphrey says what he would like to see is younger persons being given more responsibility in these areas. He believes once this is done, interest will continue to grow in areas such as politics and other important issues in the country.
