CARICOM member states will be given first preference to purchase excess natural gas in Guyana once production exceeds demand.

Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat says already several countries have approached the Guyana Government.

Work is currently progressing on the gas to Energy Project, which will utilise gas from the Liza Phase 1 and 2 projects in the Stabroek Block, offshore Guyana.

with an expected startup timeline of early 2025, the project will bring 50 million standard cubic feet of gas per day onshore.
