Wind speeds between 20- 25 knots have been observed over the past few hours; therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Small Craft Advisory. These conditions are predicted to persist throughout this afternoon with improvement tomorrow, Monday, June 30, 2025.

All marine operators should be prepared for moderate open water swells can cause a challenge to the operations of smaller vessels at times. Marine vessels incapable of withstanding these wind speeds and swell magnitudes should remain close to sheltered waters or a safe harbour.

The strengthening Atlantic High pressure cell is generating high winds across the southern Windwards, with wind speeds between 20-25 knots (37-46 km/h), and sea swells near 2.5m (8ft) being recorded by the BMS this morning. Wind speeds are expected to gradually decrease overnight, and sea swells between 2.0 – 2.5m (6-8ft) are forecast through tomorrow afternoon, Monday, June 30, 2025.

A Small Craft Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5 – 3.0 meters (8 – 10 feet) and/or reduced visibility (less than 10 km but greater than 5 km) are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 48 hours.

Marine users are encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further updates. Additionally, advice and warnings provided by the National Conservation Commission should be followed.

This Small Craft Advisory was issued at noon Sunday, June 29, 2025, and will be terminated at 6 am Monday, June 30, 2025 or sooner if conditions warrant.
