A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Barbados.
Excessive rainfall today, Sunday, October 19, 2025, will generate flooding across low-lying areas in Barbados. Widespread light to intense showers associated with a tropical wave are affecting the island. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Flash Flood Warning.
This morning a strong tropical wave is affecting Barbados with the light to intense showers, gusty winds and thunderstorms. Rainfall accumulations of (1 inch) 25 mm has already been recorded across some parts of the island overnight. An additional 2 to 3 inches (50 to 75 mm) under mostly cloudy to overcast skies are forecast with rainy conditions likely to continue into Monday.
Take note of the following possible impacts:
- -There is the high possibility of severe flooding which will result in runoff from higher elevations
- -Soil erosion on exposed or scarred land surfaces
- -Water settlements on roads and fields
- -Adjustments to water levels of existing water bodies (ponds etc.)
- -Large objects or debris from higher elevations becoming embedded within fast-moving water flows
- -Flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads
- -Delays on traffic routes with some roads being impassable or cutoff.
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further updates.
A Flash Flood Warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall is occurring or is imminent (generally within a 2 hours). This Warning was issued at 4:30 a.m. today and will be updated/terminated at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant.
