A High Wind Advisory remains in effect for Barbados.
Strong winds will continue to affect Barbados today, Sunday, October 19, 2025 associated with a strong tropical wave. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has extended the High Wind Advisory.
A strong tropical wave is generating gusty winds across Barbados this morning, particularly during shower activity, with wind speeds of 47 to 65km/h forecast for Barbados. These wind speeds are expected to gradually decrease overnight. However, some gusts near showers are still likely.
Take note of the following possible impacts:
- -Expect tumbling and rolling of unsecured objects (e.g. inflatable structures, tents and garbage cans)
- -Some injury and danger to life ispossible from flying debris.
The public is encouraged to monitor the DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further information on what you should do during the passage.
A high wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 25 to 33 knots (47 to 61 km/h) are affecting or forecast to affect the land are wiithin 48 hours.
This high wind advisory was issued at noon today and will be terminated at 6:00 pm or sooner if conditions warrant.
