The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of two areas of low pressure, located about 1950 km and 2820 km (or 1210 and 1750 miles) respectively to the east of Barbados at 11:00 a.m.
Environmental conditions are conducive for the slow development of these systems over the coming days, but both are expected to track north of Barbados over the weekend and no direct impacts to the island are expected.
However, the presence of these systems in our region will extend the period of light wind speeds, uncomfortably warm days and heat stress. Additionally, localised afternoon showers will remain likely during the coming days.
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages, along with local media networks for further updates over the coming days.
This information statement will be updated at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
