The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring a tropical wave in the Eastern Atlantic located near 31W, approximately 3000km east of Barbados at noon today, Monday, August 18, 2025.
On its current track, this tropical wave is expected to affect Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on Thursday, August 21 into Friday, August 22, 2025. There are no Watches or Warnings in effect for Barbados associated with this system.
A broad circulation within the monsoon trough is associated with this tropical wave and environmental conditions are currently marginally favourable for development as the system tracks westwards across the central tropical Atlantic. There is currently some deviation in model projections regarding development as the system approaches the Eastern Caribbean.
Potential Impacts:
-Most convective activity associated with the feature is forecast to remain north of Barbados and a reduction in wind speeds is likely
during its passage
-Warm temperatures and light winds may result in localized showers across some parts of the island
-Additionally, warm daytime temperatures and high humidity may result in uncomfortable conditions.
