At 11 a.m. today August 11, 2025, Tropical Storm Erin formed in the far eastern Atlantic and was located near 17.4N 28W or 3420 km
(2120 miles) northeast of Barbados.
This system is expected to pass well north of the region late this week and into the weekend. While the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring the progress of this system, there are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados associated with this system.
Later this week and into the weekend, light winds and daytime heating may support late morning/ early afternoon localized shower activity, across some districts. Additionally, light winds and warm temperatures may make conditions feel uncomfortable.
The public is encouraged to monitor the daily weather forecast issued by the BMS and follow any recommendations from the DEM.
Overnight and early this morning, satellite imagery showed that the system was better organized. Environmental conditions are expected to be favourable for some slow developement of this system over the next few days as Erin tracks westwards across the tropical Atlantic.
On the current trajectory, the system is expected to move northeast of the Lesser Antilles sometime towards the end of the week and into the weekend. No direct impacts from this system are expected to affect Barbados. However, wind speeds should significantly lighten as the system passes north of the region.
