The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring a tropical wave 860 miles/1592 km east-southeast of Barbados, at 11:30 a.m. today, Sunday, July 20, 2025.
On its current track, this feature is expected to affect Barbados sometime on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, as a strong tropical wave.
Because this feature is still three days away from reaching our area, and environmental conditions surrounding the feature are expected to be unconducive for development during that time, this leaves some uncertainty about any impacts as the system passes our area. This will become clearer over the next few days as the Met Office continues to monitor the evolution of this system.
The BMS is currently monitoring the progress of a tropical wave with an associated area of low pressure in the Central Atlantic (near 45W). Models are currently indicating that environmental conditions will be unfavourable as the feature tracks westward, and thus, any development will be very slow to occur. There are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados associated with this system.
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM, and GIS websites and their respective social media pages, along with the local media networks for further updates over the coming days.
This information statement was issued at 11:30 am Sunday, 20th July 2025, and will be updated at 12 noon Monday, 21st July 2025.
