Even as the island grapples with a prolonged dry spell that has prompted a water prohibition period from Monday, there’s news that wet conditions could bring a brief reprieve from the heat and dryness for a few days, starting tomorrow.
The Barbados Meteorological Services revealed this evening that wet conditions are expected across Barbados over the next few days from tomorrow Sunday, April 23, down to Thursday, April 27, associated with a surface to low-level trough system.
The Met Office says current model predictions suggest that most of the shower activity will occur on Monday, with some isolated peaks tomorrow.
However, cloudy skies and some showers are likely to persist across the island into Thursday.
Rainfall accumulations of one to three inches over the next five days are expected.
Despite the expected showers, the short-term climate forecast from the Met office for below-normal rain accumulation over the next few months remains.
However, they’ve noted that the imminent activity is one of those anomalous rainfall events previously mentioned by the department, which could result in excessive rainfall for a short period during a dry spell.
