The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring a tropical wave located near 40W, approximately 2110km or 1310 miles east of Barbados at noon today, Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
On its current track, this tropical wave is expected to affect Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on Thursday, August 21, into Friday, August 22, 2025.
The broad tropical wave located in the central Atlantic continues to be disorganised and current model guidance suggests that after the passage of this wave, wet conditions are likely for Barbados over the weekend.
Additionally, a second tropical wave is currently showing an area of disorganised showers and thunderstorms in the eastern Atlantic. This tropical wave shows little potential for development over the next few days.
There are no Watches or Warnings in effect for Barbados associated with this system.
Potential Impacts:
Most convective activity associated with the feature is forecast to move north of Barbados with a reduction in wind speeds likely during its passage. Warm temperatures and light winds may result in localised showers across some western and northwestern districts. Additionally, warm daytime temperatures and high humidity may result in uncomfortable conditions.
The public is encouraged to monitor the daily weather forecast issued by the BMS and follow recommendations from the DEM.
