The Athletic Association of Barbados is aiming to field a team of at least 40 athletes for this year’s CARIFTA Games in Trinidad and Tobago.
There is also the aim of gaining at least 50 CARIFTA medals by 2028.
This comes from President of the AAB Noel Lynch as he spoke to the athletes of the newly formed National Training Squad – a long term programme set to hone and develop the talent of the island’s junior track and field athletes.
With just about two months before the 2025 CARIFTA Games, under the guidance of six coaches in sprint, hurdles, field and relay and with sessions guided by experts in various developmental sporting fields, the programme funded to the tune of 10 thousand dollars from the Barbados Olympic Association’s Emerging Athlete Programme is aimed at improving results.
