Barbados’ national men’s football team earned their first point of the CONCACAF FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after a 1–1 draw with Aruba last evening at the BFA Turf in Wildey.
Playing their penultimate game in the second round of Group C, Barbados opened the scoring early in the 7th minute when Omari Leacock converted a penalty.
However, eight minutes later, Aruba equalised through a strike from Diederick Luydens.
Barbados had a chance to seal the win, but Leacock missed another penalty in the 95th minute.
The Bajan Ballers remain at the bottom of the group on one point, while Aruba are third with two.
Barbados’ final match is on Tuesday against St. Lucia, who also have one point but a superior goal difference.
Curaçao currently lead the group on six points.
