Barbados goes down to Colombia in Davis Cup

Barbados lost to Colombia 3-2 in their Davis Cup World Group One Tennis Qualifier.

The tie was locked at 1-1 heading into Saturday, after Xavier Lawrence fell to Nicolas Mejia 6-2, 6-love in the opening rubber. But  Darian King responded with a win by taking down Adria Soriano Barrera 6-2, 6-4 to level the tie.

However, the Colombians regained control after winning the doubles.

Before King was at it again to pull Barbados back into the tie taking a hard-fought first reverse singles match with Mejia 6-3, 6-4 to set up a deciding rubber between Kaipo Marshall and Barrera. However, Marshall could not get over Barrera and went down in straight sets at 6-2.

With the result Barbados will remain in Group  II for their next tie in September.
