Barbados’ medal count at the 38th CARIFTA Aquatic Championships in Trinidad and Tobago stood at 21 after last night’s performances in the pool.
It now stands at 10 gold, six silver, and five bronze, and Barbados are fifth in the team standings with 343 points.
On day three, Heidi Stoute continued her excellent form in the 15-17 girls division by winning gold in the 1500 metre freestyle in 18 minutes, 18.46 seconds, and gold in the 100 metre freestyle in 56.88 seconds.
Meanwhile, Kaija Eastmond delivered a gold medal performance in the 200 metre individual medley in two minutes, 37.83 seconds.
Eastmond returned to snatch silver in the 200 metre butterfly.
Jaiya Simmons was on the podium in the 200 metre butterfly, taking the silver medal and gold as part of the girls 15-17 4×200 metre freestyle relay squad, who clocked eight minutes, 52.18 seconds.
