The Athletics Association of Barbados has announced a record 52-member squad for the 52nd edition of the CARIFTA Games, slated for April 19-21 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Former CARIFTA champions Fynn Armstrong and Ashlyn Simmons, along with Aniya Nurse, will spearhead the biggest team ever to represent the island at the Caribbean’s most prestigious junior track and field meet.
It’s a quality team that will compete at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain over the Easter weekend.
There are 14 Under-17 girls, including BSSAC gold medalist Krystal Bentham.
Ten boys will compete in the Under-17 division, among them sprinters Jahkye Brewster, Dahrion Belgrave, and Jahkye Brewster.
Fifteen Under-20 girls have been selected, including Simmons and Nurse, as well as overseas-based sprinters Kadia Rock and Maya Rollins.
There are also 14 Under-20 boys, including quarter-miler Aaron Morris and sprinter Jayden Greene.
The head coach is Bryan Holder.
