Despite some preparation challenges, a strong Barbados Under-21 netball squad has departed for the 2025 World Youth Cup in Gibraltar, set for September 19–28.
Under the guidance of head coach Julie Phillips, the Baby Gems have been drawn in Pool D alongside Fiji, Malawi, South Africa, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Coach Phillips has expressed confidence in the squad, which qualified after finishing second at the Americas Regional Qualifiers in Guadeloupe last year. The team features a mix of emerging talent from the island’s top clubs, led by captain Zara Branch, who is backing them to perform well.
Barbados open their campaign against South Africa on September 20, followed by Fiji on the 21, Trinidad and Tobago on the 23, and Malawi on the 24.
