Fast-rising tennis sensation Xavier Lawrence will get the ball rolling for Team Barbados in the opening singles match of their Davis Cup Tie against Columbia which starts tomorrow.
Lawrence is set to take on Columbia’s number two ranked player Nicolas Mejia in the first match, while Barbados’ best player Darian King battles against Adria Soriano.
The draw was officially conducted this morning in Colombia as Barbados seeks promotion to World Group 1.
Non-playing captain Damien Applewhaite says the team will rely on their preparation against the higher-ranked opponents.
Applewhaite also expects a good challenge from Stephen Slocombe who will play in the doubles on Saturday.
Play will serve off tomorrow at 4 p.m. Barbados time.
