As the Barbados Royals franchise gears up for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League season, they are instituting some key initiatives to help drive not only fan support but also to aid in the development of cricket and young people here on the island.
Under the mandate of wanting to be a talent-driven, community-first franchise, much focus will be on developing and scouting talent at the grassroots level. In this first year, the hope is to unearth four bowlers who can be groomed for the future.
CEO of the Royals Sports Group, Jake Lusk McCrum, says they have secured the support of the Barbados government for their ‘Royals NextGen Challenge’.
Another of the franchise’s developmental initiatives is an internship programme, which affords a number of young persons the opportunity to work within the franchise’s social media, marketing, management, and operations departments, among others.
Consultant with the Super Royals League, Tahir Bulbulia, says the internship programme has been growing over the years.
The other initiative is the Inner-Circle membership programme, where 200 persons can sign on for a loyalty programme for 400 Barbados dollars. It provides them with team merchandise, season tickets, and team interaction sessions, among other perks.
The Barbados Royals will bowl off their 2025 CPL campaign on August 16 against hosts Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at the Viv Richards Stadium.
