The Barbados Federation of Island Tri-Athletes has named its largest team ever for the 6th edition of the CARIFTA Triathlon & Aquathlon Championships, scheduled for August 16-18 in Barbados.
With over 200 athletes expected to compete, Barbados is fielding a formidable 35-member team, including 22 athletes with previous CARIFTA experience, as they aim for a three-peat.
The Regional Triathlon Championship, for ages 11-21, will be held on the Mighty Grynner Highway.
Barbados has dominated the last two editions of CARIFTA, capturing overall team golds in both 2022 and 2023, with a 15-medal haul, including 8 gold medals in The Bahamas in August 2023.
The participating countries include Bermuda, Trinidad & Tobago, The Bahamas, Jamaica, Antigua & Barbuda, Puerto Rico, Martinique, Aruba, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Grenada.
