Cricket West Indies has put some context to the selection process used to pick the Test captain.
It was revealed last week that Barbadian Roston Chase would be appointed to the position after being the front runner among a selected group of six.
The 33-year-old Chase edged out John Campbell, Tevin Imlach, Joshua Da Silva, Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican, who was eventually named as vice captain.
Speaking at a virtual media conference yesterday, Director of Cricket at C.W.I., Miles Bascombe, said Chase and Warrican were the two strongest candidates.
While Head Coach Daren Sammy endorsed Chase, he admitted the appointment of a Test captain wasn’t a clear-cut.
The new Test skipper, Chase, says, despite being absent from the Test arena for a couple of years, he is ready to lead.
