Former West Indies fast bowler Vasbert Drakes says he is shocked and surprised that veteran pacer Kemar Roach has been dropped from the regional Test team, which is set to take on Australia in a three-match series starting June 25 at Kensington Oval.
The West Indies announced a 16-member squad last week, and notably, the experienced Roach was omitted, leading to speculation about his future.
Cricket West Indies, in a media release, stated that Roach, who turns 37 at the end of the month, was considered for selection but did not make the squad and was notified accordingly.
In a recent interview, Drakes told members of the local media that he believes Roach still has what it takes to play at the highest level.
