An unfortunate floodlight failure at the National Stadium in Providence, Guyana resulted in a reduced eliminator match between Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders, last night in the Republic Bank CPL.
Winning the toss and batting, Knight Riders were 168 for 3 off 19.1 overs when three of the light towers stopped working, eventually bringing a premature end to their innings.
Nicholas Pooran at that stage was on 91 that included 6-fours and 5-sixes.
After an hour and 49 minutes were lost, officials got all the towers fixed, and the Duckworth-Lewis-stern equation had the Royals needing 60 runs off five overs.
Player of the Match David Miller led the charge for the Royals, top-scoring with 50 not out off 17 deliveries that included 3-fours and 5-sixes, as the Royals made 64 for one off 4.2 Overs to win by nine wickets via the DLS method.
The Royals will move onto the 2nd qualifier, while it’s the end of the road for TKR.
