Members of the local basketball, blind cricket and hockey fraternities gathered at the Ann Gill Methodist Church this morning to celebrate the life of former basketball referee, blind cricket coach and hockey player Charles Williams.
Williams, who also served as an executive member of the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association, passed away on May 24.
He was known as an all-round sportsman, especially at his beloved club Empire.
In paying tribute to his father, current president of the BABA, Francis Williams, said sports was a passion of his dad’s, and growing up, he was able to learn from his exploits on and off the field of play.
Williams, who leaves to mourn his wife Phalelma, and children Marguerite, Richard and Francis, was interred at the Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens.
