Team Barbados was in full competition mode today with five athletes in action at the Junior Pan American Games.
The highlight performance came from swimmer Heidi Stoute this morning.
She finished fourth in heat three of the women’s 400 metre freestyle and eighth overall in a time of four minutes 27.10 seconds.
That’s a new Barbados 15-17 age group record and enough for her to advance to the “A” final.
In the big showdown this evening, Stoute, swimming in lane eight at the bottom of your screen, finished eighth in a time of four minutes 27.45 seconds.
The winner was Ariadna Hein of Argentina, setting a Junior Pan Am record of four minutes 06.96 seconds.
Meanwhile, another swimmer, Jaiya Simmons, was 11th overall in the heats of the women’s 200 metre butterfly with a personal best of two minutes 26.53 seconds.
She swims in the “B” final this evening.
Joshua Ross was 18th overall in the men’s 100 metre breaststroke, and Victor Ashby was also 18th overall in the men’s 200 metre butterfly.
In shooting, Kelisa Clarke did not advance in the women’s 10 metre air pistol qualification round, finishing 19th with a total of 511 points.
