India get by Ireland in their CWC opener

June 5, 2024

India brushed aside Ireland by eight wickets to start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a win this afternoon in New York.

The Indian bowlers put in a combined effort to bowl out Ireland for a paltry 96, after Rohit Sharma opted to field.

Hardik Pandya was the leading wicket-taker with three for 27, while Player of the Match Jasprit Bumrah had 2 for 6.

In the chase, Rohit retired hurt on 52, as he led India home on 97 for two in 12.2 overs.

There’s a double-header tonight, with Uganda and PNG about to begin play in Guyana, while at 8:30 at Kensington Oval, it’ll be Australia versus Oman.

That game will be live on MCTV’s ESPN channel 308 and also on radio 94.7FM.

Before the Aussie-Oman match, we’ll have our World Cup analysis show – The Final Over – from 8:03 p.m. with special guest Kevin Stoute.
