Major steps are being taken to ensure more Barbadians are involved in Paralympic sports.
The Paralympic Association of Barbados and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean recently concluded a pilot project aimed at enhancing the organisational capacity of national Paralympic committees and advancing social inclusion.
Speaking at a media briefing today, President of the Paralympic Association of Barbados, Ryan Brathwaite, said that following the pilot project, several initiatives have been developed with Government and key stakeholders, with agreement to commit to Paralympics from the grassroots level.
Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, revealed that Government is doing its part to help increase participation in Paralympic sports through a memorandum of understanding with a university in Japan.
